ChessHost is a free app for running friendly chess tournaments. It is built for clubs, schools, pubs, cafes, and anyone who wants to host a chess night without the hassle. It runs in any browser on a laptop, tablet or phone, with no download and no player accounts.
Why we built it
Running a casual chess event used to mean spreadsheets, hand drawn pairings, and a lot of stress for the organizer. We wanted anyone, even someone who has never run a tournament before, to be able to start an event and get to the first round in a couple of minutes. So we built ChessHost to handle the hard parts automatically, and to stay completely free.
What ChessHost does
Automated Swiss pairing
Nobody gets knocked out. Everyone plays every round, and the app pairs players fairly each time.
Team Battle mode
Split players into two teams for class vs class, office vs office, or a pub team night.
QR code registration
Players scan a code and type their name to join. No app, no account, no email.
TV and projector display
Show live pairings and standings on any screen. It updates itself as results come in.
Printable certificates
Generate participation certificates and diplomas for every player at the end of an event.
Works everywhere
Mobile first, but great on a laptop too. Any modern browser, no install needed.
